This law is aimed at the commercial aspect and for the individual who sets traps .As long as you release all you catch then there is no problem .Otherwise all these fisherman that do target them (and there are some like Mick brown )are breaking the law

Exactly GL , there were many times over the bream season pasted that an eel has taken worm and maggot its unavoidable at times.

only seen this now about mick brown , seen that myself that he would tend to catch big eels either in fresh or salt water though when it comes to sea fishing what is the rules as there pritty much targeted as much at sea as they are on rivers , lakes etc

id also say the majority of them eels caught ? by him were when pike fishing as most them have seen to take dead baits he uses on traces..

Default Eel fishing Banned

I believe that they are still protected , in honesty not 100% on it , but i believe that the Ban still exists ,
They are now classified as endangered ,
