From Rosslea take the B36
road to Monaghan 1.0 km (0.6 miles). At the top
of the hill on your left hand-side adjacent to the
bungalow proceed along the concrete laneway
for 0.3 km (0.2 miles); veer left along the gravel
laneway for 0.2 km (0.1 miles) to the lough. |

This spring fed lough is a
designated Area of Special Scientific Interest. It
is one of the best examples in Northern Ireland
of a Marl lough and contains unique aquatic
vegetation.
Specimen Rudd have been caught in this lough
and pike are beautifully mottled as a result of the
pristine limestone rich aquatic environment. |
