| Marsen West Yorkshire.roughly if you come out of Marsden take the A62 to the top of the hill and on the bend the entrance is on your left. From Huddersfield take the A62 toward Oldham. Stay on this road and go through 2 x villages Linthwaite and Slathwaite. One you have gone through these villages!! (speed traps galore) look out for a garage on the left hand side of the road. About half a mile after the garage you approach an S bend that curves to the right the entrance in on your right hand side. (its right at the top of the hill and you will see an old mill below. Once inside go down the hill and over a concrete bridge turn immediately left between a wall and a river. The lake will appear on your right. Go to the end, park and enjoy. |

| Well what can we say about this one. First off the setting is stunning as the lake is backed by the Pennines to one side then the canal and to the other side a fast flowing river (probably with trout in) thundering towards the Old mill. Next a really warm welcome, well laid out pegs a bigger car park in the making and some really good fishing. The fishery has a good mixture of fish offering course and specimen fishing at very reasonable rates. The syndicate that owns it classes it as a hard water but when you catch its good, Look at the gallery on the website and see the size of the pike and there are some pretty decent carp in there. While we were at the fishery the whispers were that they were expecting a 40lbs pike out in the near future!!! So you predator boys what are you waiting for? Another nice thing here you can take the other half and stay in Marsden, nice pubs, plenty of places to eat and if the good lady was a fan of "Where the Heart is" then your there, throw in a bit of "last of the Summer wine" and what more can you want. |
