| The lake itself is 35 acres and set in 70 acres of grounds. Six islands of which 2 are fish-able allow 40 swims to be fished. A natural head of carp, tench, roach, bream, and perch were already in the lake. During the early 80s over 3000 carp were stocked from our carp farm in Essex. Sizes from 5 lbs to over 40lbs were stocked. Also Wells catfish appeared in the mid 80s which now breed successful and make it an amazing Catfish fishery also. We maintain our own breeding and growing on policy for carp.
Only fish from Homersfield Lake are used to grow on and then are restocked back to the lake. Also over 20,000 tons of topsoil and 5000 trees were planted, which have made it the beautiful fishery it is today. Two of John Wilsons " Go Fishing" programs have been filmed here. One on roach and the other on carp.
The lake is a season ticket water only, with a fixed number of full season tickets and a very limited number of winter tickets. A publicity ban for catchs does exist.
The fishery is constantly being maintained and improved, from early 2006 new plans and the development of more stock ponds and a fish hatchery have started, assuring the long term future of the lake.
