Used almost exclusively for carp, although if mashed and converted to paste form will interest many other species,
New spuds are the best type,and need to be boiled,but not to where they start to crumble.They have to stay on the hook during casting. A baiting needle is used to pull the line though the spud, then tie on the hook, and pull it back untill buried into the bait.
