Casters are the next stage of a flys life after the maggot stage. To get perfect casters every time you should harvest them yourself, as shop bought casters can often be old and smelly :)

Using a maggot/riddle, riddle your white maggots daily and transfer all casters to a plastic bag with a little water and tie a knot in the bag leaving little or no air and store in a cool place ideally a fridge. Repeat daily until you have enough for your fishing session.

All fish love casters and often it help you claim those extra bonus sized fish. The ability to be able to bury the hook (size 18 is ideal for plump fresh casters) in the caster and present it static on the bottom is a terrific technique on still waters and canals.

To hook a caster you can 'bury the hook by pushing the point of the hook into the 'eyes'

Rotate the hook until the bend moved down into the casters inside. The while hook should fit neatly inside the caster if you use a 18 the spade should lodge in the 'eyes'.
